Beijing has recently made strong claims, accusing Taiwan of operating multiple advanced persistent threat groups. According to statements from authorities in Beijing, Taiwan is behind five specific APTs that are targeting mainland China. Interestingly, these groups are described as being less sophisticated or “feeble” compared to other known state-sponsored actors. A significant part of the accusation involves the claim that these operations are receiving assistance from the US. The APTs are allegedly engaged in various malicious activities, including cyberattacks and cyber espionage, primarily aimed at infiltrating sensitive organizations and acquiring valuable data theft. While labeled as ineffective, the allegations highlight ongoing tensions in the cyber domain between these entities, with Beijing publicly pointing fingers at Taiwan and its purported US support for these perceived threats.
